The 30-Day Wellness Ritual Challenge

When we hear the term "wellness ritual", we often think something along the lines of a yoga retreat, older white women, "green" juices, and being super lean and thin. Well, thankfully, the years have evolved and now that we're in 2019, wellness looks a lot different and applies to many different women (and men) across many cultures - no yoga involved.

This summer, I'm taking back my wellness and embarking on creating clean habits for myself to live a healthier and longer life. Back in 2017, I started my fitness journey and I saw results when making small changes and how advantageous it was when I started taking care of myself. My cholesterol levels dropped, blood work looked great, I felt lighter and not so stuffy, I could breathe better and slept wonderfully. Most of all, I just felt better.

I want to relive that moment and have that same feeling again - the euphoric feeling of mindfully taking care of your overall well-being and being in charge of yourself and the direction of your health. To get back on track, I'm developing a course plan over the next couple of weeks to create some healthy habits - and I want YOU to join in with me. 

Some healthy habits that can lead to longevity are:

  • Drinking water daily (not just one cup then a coke)
  • Exercising for at least 30 minutes (it goes by quick I promise)
  • Stretching in the morning
  • Eating whole foods and not processed (Chick-Fil-A is tempting, sis)
  • Cup of tea with antioxidants for your body (think warm matcha with lemon and manuka honey)
  • Breathing (honestly, we forget to sometimes!)
  • Getting a full 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night as an adult

We'll be taking small steps and doing week by week, adding on one thing at a time as the weeks go by. For example, week one's goal could be going to bed an hour earlier than your normal sleep time. In week two, that would be going to be an hour earlier PLUS, drink a warm glass of water with lemon the next morning. Week three, would be an hour earlier, warm glass of lemon water + honey, and light 5 minute morning stretches. 

It'll be simple, and this would help not only build a better ritual for myself, but to help you create a ritual to get into the habit of taking care of yourself and living well.
